Martin Harris Home by Al Rounds |
This is Casey Griffiths from Scripture Central in a video ON LOCATION and drawing on old LDS films. Great for you and your kids to learn about this disaster in early church history.

Watching the video on the 116 pages, I noted that there are mistakes in the transcription: 'Joseph' is often misquoted as 'Justice'
A tiny, rather unimportant detail: Casey Griffiths is filmed on Martin Harris' farm, but the HOUSE that is standing behind him was actually built AFTER Martin sold the farm and left for Ohio and Missouri. So, that is his farm, but technically, not his house.
Using the interpreters (Urim & thummim?) while covered with animal skins is especially interesting to me because one of the layers roofing the tabernacle in the wilderness was a layer of BADGER SKIN (Exodus 26:14). So, the skin keeps out the light, but also gives a stronger tabernacle/temple setting for a priest/prophet receiving revelation thru the U&T ( Exodus 28:30)
And a beaver hat, technically, is NOT made out of beaver SKIN. It is made from beaver FUR which has been felted. A hatter would shave the lovely fur off the beaver skin pelt, and then, using really hot water, they would beat the fur fibers together into a thick felt (not woven) fabric that was then shaped, using steam and wooden forms, into a hat. For details, see https://alfredjacobmiller.com/explore/from-pelt-to-felt/
Forgive my OCD!
