Easter All Week : Again

Years ago I created a booklet out of Margot Butler's New Testament timeline.  It has one 'page' for each day of the Passion Week from Palm Sunday to Easter, showing major events and teachings from the life of Jesus recorded in the
Gospels.  

The easiest way to download and print this booklet is through the blog of a friend and former early morning seminary student of mine (Jocelyn Hatch Christensen). 

The booklet will appear as the first activity on a list of other Easter activites.

Pioneers in Every Land : New Lecture Series at Assembly Hall

A new Lecture series has begun at the Assembly Hall on Thursday evenings at 7 pm, once a month.  

Taunalyn Rutherford was in India last summer collecting stories from pioneer members of the church in India for her PhD thesis in Church History. She will be speaking Thursday, March 12 at 7 pm in the Assembly Hall

Christians United for Israel is offering a free 40 page eBook summarizing the history of the modern state of Israel.  You can download a copy HERE

I found it to be interesting reading and everything is footnoted so you can check the sources. 

Off Topic: Luke's Sermon on the Plain

S. Kent Brown did a great job talking about the differences between Matthew's Sermon on the Mount and Luke's Sermon on the Plain in the BYU commentary on the New Testament.  It was quoted HERE on Meridian Magazine.

Temple Studies: Passion and Passover : Jesus and the Temple

The Academy for Temple Studies is pleased to announce its next conference. It is “Passion and Passover: Jesus and the Temple.” We are thrilled that four eminent biblical scholars will be speaking: James Charlesworth, Dan Bahat, Gary Rendsburg, and George Zervos. We will hold nearly identical sessions at both Brigham Young University (on March 30) and Utah State University (on March 31). 

We’ll hear about devotion and worship in the Temple that Jesus knew, the Psalms as Temple hymns, and much more. To get the most out of your attendance at the conference, we recommend reading the book “Jesus and the Temple: Textual and Archaeological Explorations,” available at Amazon and elsewhere.

NEW EVENING CLASS Starting February 18th

I will start teaching a NEW EVENING class of Finding Christ in the Old Testament starting next Wednesday, February 18th.

The class will meet in the Sugarhouse Stake Center located at 1100 East and 1700 South in Salt Lake.

We will meet from 6 to 7:30 PM.  The early hour is because there is another adult religion class that meets in the same building from 7:30 to 9.  It is an Old Testament class taught by James and Judith McConkie.

So you can attend BOTH classes!

A NURSERY will be provided, so if you have small children, you can still come.

Tell your spouses and friends who have daytime jobs.  See you there.
